The Tickhill Music Society developed from a concert in Tickhill, Doncaster, held on 17 March 1977 by the Coull Quartet.
Our aim is to present live music performed by professional musicians in a welcoming environment for the benefit of the people of Tickhill and the surrounding areas. The music is not confined to the classical repertoire. We also explore other fields like jazz, folk, and world music and like to encourage young musicians.
We had a successful 2023-24 season, with the new innovation of lunchtime concerts during the winter months, and evening concerts in warmer months.
For 2024-25, we are holding five evening concerts on Thursdays, all of which are given by professional musicians. Plus five lunchtime concerts on Saturdays
The concerts are usually held at St Mary’s Primary School in Tickhill, and more occasionally our local parish church, St Mary’s, Tickhill.
The society owns a Yamaha boudoir grand piano which is kept at the school and is much appreciated by the visiting professionals who enjoy playing it.
Trips away from Tickhill to view musical events on the Savoy Cinema in Doncaster.
Tickhill Music Society is a registered charity. Charity number: 509981
